In the heart of the Johannesburg, International Flower stands the Grand Pavilion of Flowers.

The pavilion is now full with over 43 floral exhibitors. 8 designers in the Floral Chandelier Competition, 8 in the floral freestanding competition and 15 in the floral extravaganza.

Here, visitors can get lost in the midst of extravagant floral displays, elaborately designed flower walls and chandeliers, fantasy gardens and ikebana displays. While inspired by artistry, visitors can attend talks & demos to learn more. Lose time staring at botanical art featured by The Botanical Artists Association of Southern Africa. Designers and exhibitors have entered one of two competitions to compete for the coveted “Best on Show” award. To top it all off, visitors will be amazed by the replica SANBI display that features at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year. Visitors can escape to a world of wonder and delight.

PIETER DE BRUIN

Pieter de Bruin is a professional floral stylist, floral educator and floral judge. His experience in the floral industry started after his studies in the hospitality industry.

During 2010 he attended the American Institute Floral Design Symposium in San Fransisco. A few years later he became the second South African citizen to be awarded this prestigious award as member of AIFD.

Pieter was also a member of the World Flower Council.

Pieter’s motivation to share and educate others in the industry was a huge priority for him. Not only did Pieter host groups of International florists from Korea and Germany back home inCape Town, he was also part of a two member delegation from South Africa to be on stage at the IPM Essen show in Germany, promoting the Protea for SAPPEX.

As a member of Interflora, Pieter was elected to serve on the Board of Interflora. For the past nine years he has been and continues to be the Chairman of Interflora for: African Areas.

Currently, Pieter is the proud owner of Palette de Fleurs, flower studio at Cape Quarter. He is working very closely with interior designers and supplies flowers not only to hotels and corporates but also to adorn many beautiful private homes and villas along the Atlantic Sea Board.

SHARON McGUKIN

Sharon McGukin (Mac-Goo-kin) AIFD, AAF, PFCI inspires others to ‘celebrate life with flowers’. Sharon is known for her floral expertise, southern charm and energetic connection with audiences as an entertaining and informative speaker.

She began her career as a small town florist with floral adventures leading her around the world. She has consulted in Asia for the home décor industry and presented flower demonstrations or tracked floral trends across the US, Canada, and Europe.

From decorating floats at the Rose Bowl Parade to designing flowers in the White House, this floral fashionista has bunches of floral experience.

Floral Freestanding Competition

Flower walls are a great way to bring the outside indoors. Hand crafted with amazing details, these Flower Walls create the ‘wow factor’ at any event.  Hand- built by local and international floral designers, these designs provide the perfect backdrop for any photo moment. Be mesmerized by the variety of sizes, color combinations or themes.
